We met Temira and her whānau and two of their children died very young. They are trying to heal and make sense of life after these deaths. Grief support was offered and it didn’t fit. They wanted to wānanga with other whānau who had experienced loss. This proved to be the best remedy - for them and others. So we did lots of it and made a podcast. We spoke to māmā, pāpā, rangatahi, kuia, people that work in the hāpori and academics with deep knowledge of mātauranga Māori.

Tīrama Mai te Pō is a podcast about loss, grief, death, and dying from a Te Ao Māori perspective. Here, we platform kōrero from both kākāpō – whānau sharing their lived experiences and kākā – practitioners who work with whānau on related kaupapa. This podcast provides you the listeners with perspectives, resources, and stories primarily by, for, with, and of Māori.
